The elephant and bloke, I enjoy your discourse on this topic, but I also need to pick your home improvement minds on this subject: sewer line clean out. I have a slow draining sewer line, water backs up into the basement from my basement floor drain. Eye witness evidence when I asked my wife to flush the toilet and the water backed up the drain :(

At first I thought it was attributable to the extra rain and the irrigation water running again. High ground water levels occur here this time of year - our church sump is running rather regularly now. But I am not so sure. The sewer line comes out of the house and goes either under or between two big pine trees, so I am suspecting roots growing into the sewer line may be a problem.

Currently I am considering either renting a sewer auger or calling a plumber with a heavy duty sewer auger to clean out my sewer line. Will be doing it soon, right after I get off of TubeNet - tired of bailing out the basement.

This is my messy update.

In Montana, we are not going to have too great of a selection of plumbers to choose from, unless you are willing to pay mileage for someone to come from Billings or Bozeman.

I called a local septic tank, sewer line plumber and they came with a Rigid sewer auger that would drive 15' segments of clean out line. Luckily our crawl space does have enough room to easily work. The plumber brought in two 45' reels of clean out line and we used the entire 90'.

The tree roots have been successfully removed and our water is draining again. :) My wife should be pleased with the results. :D

Waste water is flowing again: you've been updated.

By the way - $265/first hour, 75/hr thereafter.

Updated again.

Other pastors have told me: the two things they don't teach you in seminary plumbing and electrical! :P

I played my Cerveny F last night for the first time in a rehearsal (one of several tubas in a large band). I still have a little work to do with the F fingerings, but playing some familiar tunes, I did a lot better than I thought I would. Need to sit down with the tuner now, but, but overall, it was a blast! Such an easy little horn to play, and "the" low C area is of no concern on this horn.

These days, I just sit in the back row and play my tuba or bass trombone in church, and let the "experts" do the real work; we are lucky to have many well-known composers and arrangers of church charts in my town.

In days past, I was sometimes in more of a leadership or directorial role. One of the things that would drive me nuts was the "it's good enough for church" attitude that was often so prevalent. My feelings were, would you want the plumber or electrician who worked on the church to have the same attitude?

We'll see tomorrow how she responds to the tuba! :)
I practiced a bit today for the first time since getting my dog. She seems to love the tuba. Climb up on my lap when I was playing, and eventually settled on the couch next to me. No fear, no growling. She did fall asleep for a little while. But I take no offense to that. She is a dog after all.

When driving to church last night, I saw a rainbow for only the third time in my entire life. I pulled over and took pictures with my cellphone:

Rev, I don't like to spend someone else's money, but you ought to consider spending a little and installing a check-valve [back-flush preventer] on your line. If [when!] that line becomes clogged again, you will again run the risk of all that "detritus" backing up in your home, usually when you are away for a few days. A check-valve will keep it flowing in one direction only!
Regards,
Scott

I keep getting phone calls and voicemails (and today, a text message) from people inquiring about the Isuzu Rodeo I am selling on craigslist. I am not selling an Isuzu Rodeo. I have never owned, driven, or even ridden in one. My attempts to find the ad and report it have turned up empty.

You have been updated. Further updates may be provided as the situation develops...

Do any of these have a similar phone number to yours?

(psst...click on "All Craigslist at the top of the listings and you can search everywhere for a similar number...almost 4500 entries...that, coupled with your phone # that they obviously mis-listed will make short work of it)

We had that happen; somebody listed the wrong area code for their "need help moving". Finally changed the message to say "I am not Mark, I do not live in Hartford, and I do not need help moving."

Nope. I hadn't checked any of those ads before, though. Most of the phone calls are from NY numbers, so I've checked the NYC/Long Island page with no luck. That site is going to make the search easier though...many thanks.

Bloke...not one of the calls I've gotten is even remotely as detailed as your fake inquiry. In fact, the text I got today just said "i will[sic] like to buy you're[sic] Izuzu[sic} asap"

I have no car to sell, but maybe I can charge him for English lessons???

Edit: I went through every page of the 4500 or so ads on craigslist, searching each page for my phone number (as per Todd's suggestion), and came up with nothing. :( Thanks for the tip, though.

I don't know why, but I'm watching the NBA tonight, for the first time in... 3 years? 4 years? more? (I'm really just not interested.)

Didn't Phil Jackson used to be a whole lot thinner?
