There's a free app by Gibson for Guitars, that contains both a tuner and a metronome as well as other guitar stuff. i've used this for a while and it's easily as good as ClearTune in my experience.

Cleartune works OK, but iStroboSoft from Petersen works better.
More expensive yes, but way cheaper than buying a separate tuner.

FWIW, I use the app called Pitchbot for tuning. I haven't tried the Peterson yet, but I'm satisfied with the little pitchbot app. It's got the chromatic wheel for tuning, clear controls, and an amplitude meter. In the settings, one can change the tracking sensitivity, needle damping, and transposition.

I also have the app called "tuner". I use it when I want to be challenged to keep a note "dead on" in tune. I should note that neither app has completely replaced my tuner, but are very handy to have on me at all times.

For a metronome, I use the FrozenApe App called "Tempo" It's loaded with features! subdivisions, accented beats, meter changes, tap tempo, and the ability to save tempi via tracks. In the settings menu, one can play reference drone tones, change the sound type that's acting as the beat, and screw around with the animations. The company apparently has developed "Tempo 2", but continuously pushes new changes to their original app, so I've not been inclined to buy a new one. This has replaced my standard metronome, as it's loaded with far more features!

Any other apps that people use?
