Eugene has exceeded the average rainfall levels of June. Heading for a record. Hmmm, it is raining in Oregon.

Back from the Montana Synod Assembly - fetched our dog from prison, where we boarded her and now am thinking about, but not too hard, helping my wife unload her stuff from the pickup now that she has returned from MAWS in Billings. The question remains - why am I still on TubeNet :?:

If [when!] that line becomes clogged again, you will again run the risk of all that "detritus" backing up in your home, usually when you are away for a few days. A check-valve will keep it flowing in one direction only!
A back-flush preventer is good for keeping the sewers from backing up into your house. But it's not so good for solving clogs on your own lateral. If the sewer line won't flow, the check valve won't open, and then whatever you just flushed out of the upstairs toilet will come up out of the floor drains in your basement.

That's your problem right there. Don't you know it is state law that you have to drive a fullsize (3/4 ton preferred) pickup if you buy anything larger than a shoebox? Just dropping off or picking up kids with no cargo? That's definitely a quad cab with a one ton dually chassis.

Bloke, I can understand how you feel when one if faced with the ineptitude of such hired help. But what happens when I am the sole person involved with such ineptitude :?:

My ex's Toyota Highlander would start getting hot after the air conditioning had been running for a little while. I suggested she replace the cabin air filter (I even bought her new multi-screwdriver from ACE to do it) but that did not help. She found out on the Internet that it was due to cracked wires or loose soldering in the control unit for the heating / air. I took the assembly out of the dash and opened up the unit, exposing the circuit boards and pots (yes, the car still has knobs you actually turn.) Two of the three wires connecting the temperature pot to the main circuit board had cracked at the end of the ribbon cable and were just intermittently touching. Getting the broken stubs desoldered and the ribbon cable stripped to be reinserted proved more difficult than anticipated, but once I had everything wired up and soldered again, a multimeter proved the connections were solid. I put everything back together, and she now consistently has cold air without spending $700 for a new control unit and $500 for labor. Afterwards, we went to Loews, where she picked out two sets of blinds and a new porch light she wants me to install for her. :|

Seriously, if anyone on the board has a Toyota with intermittent HVAC issues, I can email you the well documented link that explains what to do.

Had to take the dog back to the shelter (out on Long Island) where we got her for a checkup. It's 25 miles door to door, and took over 2 hours to get there (yes, an average of less than 10 miles/hour).

Luckily, after this checkup, I can find a closer vet. I don't particularly like Long Island, and try to avoid it at all costs.(No offense to anyone out there :).)

Found this on a list of bad coworker stories:
i have a co worker who constantly runs over to my desk to fart… and last time he did that, he farted so hard he pooped his pants, had to go home and change his pants. he hasn’t tried farting around me since.

Tire iron wouldn't budge the lugnuts. Got out the trusty crossbar lugwrench. Even standing on one side wouldn't budge the lugnuts. Dug out the impact gun from my days as a serious automotive hobbyist. That did the trick. Took the tire down to Firestone. Couldn't be patched. Had to get a new one, but not in stock - will pick it up after work and get it on before orchestra rehearsal tonight. Big $$$ for the big stupid SUV tire, fortunately almost the exact same amount as my monthly Kolledge lessons check which arrived yesterday.

Susan and I are off to the Absarokee Arts Walk - where we visit the various art galleries/quilt shops in town, eat hors de oeuvres and drink wine, as well as meet all our artsy friends. :)

Afterwards I will practice my tuba, clean and oil the valves and pack it up so I am ready for band practice in Red Lodge with Alte Kamarade.

Been starting to talk about moving out of NYC next year (that is, move to somewhere else in the country, not like move to New Jersey or Connecticut "moving out").

Where should we go? :)
