Ive been wondering...... I know what the 5vCC and Eb tubas from M&M are clones from. So of the other offerings that they have, are what are THEY clones or closest too? Is is just Miraphone designs that are being copied? (With the exception of the Eb of course)
As an aside....anyone following the world cup? Who are your favorites?
Im for Uruguay!

Re: More clone questions
I think not all are clones, in the sense that they aren't just copied straight. Some of them seem to be modified.

Re: More clone questions
Hi! I know from speaking to Michael, Vince, and several other of the Jin-Bao importers, that the factory has been pushed to add modifications here and there, such as the "Fletcher cut" on the Eb Besson clone! Such improvements have resulted in said Jin-Bao's becoming decent playing horns! Judging from prices I've seen on this, and other sites, they certainly don't have the resale value of Kanstul, King, Yamaha, or the European axes, but at least we have more "affordable" entry level and up horns at decent cost! Re: More clone questions
Actually my interest stems not only from the much lower economic impact on my wallet, (and hence an happier spouse!) but in the impact these horns could have on players as a whole. I know there is reluctance on the part of some to accept them, but like the so called student horn, they have a place. Just as affordable and decent horns fed the Brass Band movement in the 19th century, I wonder if reasonably made and reasonably purchased horns might not help a resurgence of bands here. While I dont see these horns as a replacement for the real deal. They do make better horns than many of the so called student models being thrust upon the budgets of public schools and the public in general. I dont know why we think that a student horn is easier to play......when in fact they are often very hard to play and thus keeping a childs interest can be very hard. (exiting soapbox mode)...
