Silver Horn vs Lacquer for Weight
Quick question, if I am looking at 2 tuba of the same make and model but one is Silver and the other Lacquer is the silver going to weigh noticeably more? Thanks in advance for your answers.

You left out one key word: "noticeably".bloke wrote:The question is this:
Does a c. 1 - 2 mil thick coating of lacquer weigh MORE or less than a c. 0.4 mil coating of silver?

The definitive answer is that the increase in weight from silver will be more than offset by your noticably lighter wallet!sinfonian wrote:Quick question, if I am looking at 2 tuba of the same make and model but one is Silver and the other Lacquer is the silver going to weigh noticeably more? It could be carried by an African swallow ...the elephant wrote:It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
