The landlady posted a note on my door this morning saying I was not to play ANY musical instruments in the building. Well there goes a huge chunk of my life. What am I supposed to do for those five hours each day?!?

I don't know for a fact, but I'm willing to bet that you don't play just ANY musical instruments...

No "musical" instruments? That does narrow the field ... vuvuzela should be OK.

Check your local laws and the lease you signed. If nothing there, then keep playing and then move.

Or, get a practice mute. :)

Back from Butte and the National Folk Music Festival with Alte Kamaraden brass band. We had a great time - had to deal with a sudden rain during our first set, luckily we were on a covered stage. The front row got a little wet. But we moved back, regrouped and continued on in the great - show must go on - tradition. Our other three sets were in a vacant lot. This time around I got sunburned. But we had a great time. This was a wonderfully organized festival. If you ever have a chance to participate at the National Folk Music festival as a spectator or a particpant - do it.

well quite a multitude, but I think the tuba (recently made in-tune thanks to Bloke) was the last straw. No one ever seems to mind when I'm playing my oboe. :?

I picked up one of these and covered up this part...

Or, you can just start cranking up the stereo.

I suggest a *very* large subwoofer.

Then, ask her which she'd prefer.

My King 1241 is off to Seattle and Dan Oberloh for a valve job. I was tired of wiping moisture off the tops of my valves. Others suggested I use a valve oil equivalent of STP to get better compression. Better to fix it properly, than to cobble together a questionable fix.

Successful day doing my audition practicing in the park. Had to chase away a few kids who got too close with rocks in their hands...that was fun. (chased them away whilst playing the opening from "The Inferno.")

ahh, to live, love, and LAUGH.

Just came across this:

"The term 'The Big Apple' was coined
by touring jazz musicians of the 1930s
who used the slang expression 'apple' for any town or city.
Therefore, to play New York City
is to play the big time - The Big Apple."
