Picc part for stars and stripes

Come to think of it, if there's an interest, I will make a tuba part with the piccolo solo at the end, and a piccolo part with the bassline. They could both just replace the original parts, and no other alterations to the score would be needed. I could come up with an inexpensive price, too.

For those who could do it themselves, great. However, let me state that music engraving is one of my professional skills. My work is top-notch. How's that for modesty?

This actually is curious; the band score I have, downloaded from above, also has the picc part in D, while there's is a "Piccolo in C" part that puts the piece in the correct key. Is the other picc part actually for a fife? From what I remember, most fife music is written in the key of D, while they could be playing a combination of a different keyed instrument and a different key in the music. And I do know the orchestral version is in D.

No, old piccolos were in Db. When I met the flute/piccolo player of the 2nd Battalion Parachuters’ band in Cheltenham in 1964, he told about his Db piccolo with an open G# key. By tuning the piccolo in Db, the music in general would be written in sharp keys, which at least in the old days were considered more playable on flutes/piccolos than the flat keys.

Hmm. With all this, I just wonder if there are any piccolo players out there who are clamoring to play the runs in "Them Basses," "E Pluribus Unum," or "The Thunderer," to say nothing of the low brass heft of the theme out of Act II of Lohengren, or chugging along on something by Holst, or a good dogfight in any number of well written marches over the years, or, well, I think I've made my point.

I should have been more precise: the Db piccolo was a band tradition, whereas orchestral piccolos always were in C.

Whoah, I just worked on a transcription for that piece for saxophone ensemble. Can't believe I didn't catch that part. Though, I was mostly referring to the client's manuscript of the transcription, I only referred to the original score if I found a problem. Or maybe I had a later publication. I already returned the score, so I don't know.

Unknown source? I cranked that out in Finale, sir! The file is dated May 6, 2008...it's been a while.

Yeah, I just really like imitating old typesets as much as possible using Finale fonts. I just made a picc and tuba part, and switched the last strain between the two. You may even be able to put this in the folder with the score and fool the band director, it's that close a match (well, except I put my name on it).

Would anybody like to purchase? I assure you my original is much clearer than this, both parts would come in PDF format.
