Find your political compass!

Post by Todd S. Malicoate »

I found this quiz on a different board and thought the TubeNet folks might find it interesting. Click on "Take the test" on the left-hand side menu and post your results. Here's mine:

bloke wrote:' far too many "none of the above" and "the question is moot, because..." items for any sort of accuracy...

...and I really don't buy into the 4-way graph that was conceived of quite a few years ago, because many of the questions asked should be no one's business, and no one's opinion on others' activities along many of those lines *should* matter.

ie: Are you fat? [yes] Then you must be an ADVOCATE of "fatness"...etc...

The libertarian vs. authoritarian thing is indeed political, but what does "left" vs. "right" mean...?? It's not defined. As an example, those who set up the quiz could decide that pro-abortion is "left" and pro-'evil' corporations is "right"...but most libertarians wouldn't be against EITHER people's rights to abortions OR against 'evil' corporations...yet libertarians are REQUIRED in the quiz to define these things as "I want it stopped" or "I want it promoted".

...so the 4-way graph conflicts with itself as well as being self-opinionated and (basically) invalid.
Agreed on all points. This certainly isn't intended to be scientific or even particualrly accurate (wait until you see where Obama is on this graph). I just thought it might be fun for some and stimulate some interesting (but hopefully not too partisan political) discussion.

FWIW, I think the "left" and "right" on the economic scale can be read just as accurately as "communism" and "capitalism." I was very surprised I wasn't farther right than I was on that particular scale.

Interesting exercise. Some of the questions... wtf.

Unless I missed something, BHO is not plotted on the graph.

On the front page of the site in the menus on the left hand side of the page are analyses of a variety of elections around the world. The candidates for the 2008 election are listed. BHO is in about the center of the top right (blue) square.

Interesting test. A lot of the questions were ultimatums, without a direct, ultimate answer, which cannot be accurate in research, but I found it fun to take and close to accurate on the graph scale for my beliefs as a theocratic monarchist.
