Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
No the tuba is not made for me. I was in Munic last week and got the beauty from Mr. Tucci.
I spend 4 hours in his shop, trying at least 6 tubas.
Mr. Tucci is a verry verry nice person, and I have never talked to anybody who knows so much about tubas.
I have asked the Melton/Meinl Western compagny on more details on the horn, and I'm still waiting for a reply.
It plays like a dream with a super low register.
The 5 vale is a bit strange, I pull'ed it out in order to get the 1-2 lenght.
Now my two Miraphones is for sale in Mr. Tucci's shop.

Very cool. I've been mulling over getting a rotary CC tuba, and *totally* forgot about the MW-37. Kind of want to try one out again now... anyone got one here in NYC?

What is "street" on that, Howard?
The valve to hand position looks very comfortable...

Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
Hornguys web site says about 2/3 of that. A lot higher than I had assumed they cost. But, sounds like a "get what you pay for" situation.

Street price is about 8,500.00 for the 5 valve, about 8,000.00 without the 5th valve, and for the four valve across top action (33-T) maybe 7,500.00 to 8,000.00 depending where you buy. Prices include a hard SKB case with wheels and TSA compatible locks. On the west coast I recommend Steve Ferguson at Hornguys.com
He knows these instruments inside and out! I'll probably have the instrument for the August South Bay J.C. meeting so you can try it out -- it's a real hoot, really loving this tuba!

Does that Conn 2 work well with that horn?MartyNeilan wrote:Marty Neilan holding the 1928 Conn Donatelli. Like the horn, haven't had it long enough to decide whether I love it or not.

Here I am playing on a nice three valve Miraphone; this is a nice little tuba.
Beginning again to be a tuba player.

That, sir, is a BLOKEPIECE® !!!TUbajohn20J wrote:Does that Conn 2 work well with that horn?MartyNeilan wrote:Marty Neilan holding the 1928 Conn Donatelli.
I would imagine that, given the bore, taper, and overall horn size, that a Conn 2 would work at least reasonably well on that instrument.
I currently use the #3 Symphony and sometimes the #1 Solo on that horn.
