Interesting German tuba excerpt book

Post by bisontuba »

Hi-
While in Ithaca this week and stopping at Hickey's Music, I had to pick up some things for someone, and one of the items was a German Orchestra excerpt book--'Orchestra Test Pieces for Tuba/Double Bass Saxhorn''-- Evans/Propper , pub. by Peters. Some very interesting excerpts--the usual stuff, but also some nice opera excerpt material-Wozzeck, Der Bajazzo, Cinderella & Coppelia (Ballet), Rosenkavalier, Salome, Elektra, Verdi & Wagner, etc. The book says it was done at the behest of the German Music Council & the German conservatories & is based on statistical studies carried out by the German Union of Orchestras. There are volumes done for each instrument by this publishing company
A very neat booklet & very recommended!

Regards-

You can also get a set of CDs that match the excerpts.
