I had one of those, too--a '71 Campmobile. Again, you would have had to supply the hippie flowers, but I did install the orange shag carpet.
Those Berkeley hippies just had no class. But the GMC Motorhome didn't come out until 1973--already a little late for the Berkeley scene.
Toyota engine? No, that would be entirely too practical and reliable. This one has an Oldsmobile 455 with Toronado/Eldorado front-wheel drive. Can you say "torque"?
Back to hipness: The Redhead and I were driving the motorhome to the Jersey Shore. We were driving down the beach drag at Belmont Beach or some such, and the traffic was heavy. We noticed a crowd of 20-ish surfer types on the sidewalk, and they pointed at us in open-mouthed awe. One guy punched his buddy, and said loudly, "I want one of
those." We couldn't hear him, but it was obvious what he was saying.
