Help with Tuba duet

Post by tubawallace »

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to do a tuba duet with organ and/or percussion accompaniment. Can anyone make some suggestions for such a piece?

Best,

How about the Corelli Sonata da chiesa, arranged by R. Winston Morris?
If you read treble clef, there is also a lot of baroque vocal duets (e.g. by Purcell and Händel) that might work.

Jason,

You might also try Daniel Pinkham's "Dragons and Deeps" for bass tuba in F and organ.
It's published by ECS publishing; it's somewhat dissonant with leaping 7ths and a three
octave range. You won't go home whistling the theme. :-D

I know this is like a week late, but "Dragons and Deeps" is a fantastic piece! It's dissonant, but once you play it through a couple times, you really grow to like it. I played it with the tuba professor at my school last spring for our studio recital. I loved it.

From the index of my Yahoo-based for-free music download project:

Ludwig van Beethoven: Duet #1 in C major for clarinet and bassoon.
Here edited by Klaus Bjerre in 17 versions in several keys for several permutations of orchestral and band instruments including concert, alto, & bass flutes, oboe & English horn, Bb soprano & bass clarinets, bassoon, soprano, alto, tenor, & baritone saxophones, SA, SB, or TB recorders, horn in F, Wagner tuba in F, euphonium, bass tuba, contrabass tuba, violin, viola, and cello. Notation in orchestral and brass band styles. The versions within each key are to some degree compatible. Please read the introduction.
