Mnozil Brass
I am astounded on how much sound that guy gets out of an F tuba. Anyone know what kind of horn that is, and the model?

Re: Mnozil Brass
It depends. I've seen him (on YouTube) with two different horns. The one that seems the most common is the Meinl Weston F Kronos. A better picture can be seen here (thanks to 2165 for all his awesome photos):

Re: Mnozil Brass tubist
Wilfried Brandstotter is AWESOME! I have really enjoyed listening to him and watching their youtubes. Recently, they were in So Cal and I couldn't get down to see them. I hope they line up a Nor Cal tour! Here is an interview with him: http://www.themusicpage.com/showVideos.php?v=367" target="_blank

Re: Mnozil Brass
The other tuba he uses is a Rudy Meinl 3/4 F. I noticed that he has a microphone on the bell. That could account for some of the tone you hear. Amplified or not, he's truly an awesome player!

That 5 rotor/2 slide kicker setup is... interesting, to say the least.

Re: Mnozil Brass
ANyone have more info/pic on this horn? I can't seem to locate any more, and it's a really interesting design.

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.

Re: Mnozil Brass (sidenote)
Also interesting is the mid-range brass horn - a rotor-valved sort of Mellophone played by Leonhard Paul.
I don't know if this is a restored antique, a replica new construction or a totally new "fantasy design," but I have not seen anything like it in any of my brass reference books or on line.
