Post by Atuba »

Hi friends!!

My name is Adrián. I'm tuba player and this year i will have my final exam in the Conservatory. I'm studing classic/contemporany tuba and i would like make a performance about tuba & percussion. I have some original scores for this combo, but it's very difficild find some more. I have this list:

- Good Vibes for Tuba and Vibraphone -- Perfeito P.
- Dance Movements for Tuba and Rhythm Section-- Szentpali R.
- Scenes from the City for Tuba and Vibraphone -- Marques T.
- Dance Suite for Tuba and Triangle -- Beach B.

I know that there are some score more but i can't find by internet for buy this scores, for example:

- Capriccio for tuba & marimba (or synthesized tape) -- Penn
- Bass, for solo tuba & percussion - Bo Nillson

Who can tell me where could i buy this scores??

Thanks

I did a duet with a friend for her master's recital call KraftWerk, by Daniel McCarthy. A difficult piece, but very fun to try and put together with your musical kindred spirits! The percussion set up in and of itself is impressive, and the tuba part provides challenging technical passages.

Velvet Brown put out a nice CD of works for tuba and various percussion ensembles. I'd look at these pieces to get some more ideas. Here's the CD.

This piece is published by Edition Reimers in Sweden (http://editionreimers.se" target="_blank). Just make sure that you use the correct spelling: Bo Nilsson.

...And What Rough Beast? by Satterwhite (recorded by Gene Pokorny on Big Boy)
Arabic Dances by Meister

I used to have a pretty good mental list together. Searching the forums should turn up more.

You might also consider Eric Ewazen's "Devil Septet" for four tubas, piano and two percussionists. It's available here:

Sorry, I realize now I didn't type that clearly. The piece is called Kraftwerk. I do not know where to get it though, unfortunately. The percussionist whom I did the duet with gave me the tuba part. I'll see if I can find it for you

It's pretty tough but there's a piece on the Harvey Phillips Legacy CD called The Devils Herald by Richard Peaslee. Its for Tuba with four horns and two percussionists. (A conductor helps a lot too)
