they tried to make the camera move dramatic, but the mute took up the a majority of the screen. It just made it comical...to me atleast.

I thought it was an intentional shot of the entire brass section with mutes... including the tuba. I thought it was kind of cool.stockhausen wrote:rofl

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.

He's using a Schlipf-mute - made by Johann Schlipfinger in Austria. Best mutes available in my opinion - I own 2 of them! His straight mutes are available in a myriad of different sizes to fit the instrument exactly. http://www.tuba-mute.com
