Pinkham Gloria--instrumentation?

Post by scottw »

I quickly looked at 3-4 sources for a listing of this work, but came up empty so far. What I need to know soonest is the brass instrumentation. If I remember, there is also organ with the choir and brass. I seem to remember that it is a small brass ensemble, maybe even a quintet? I need to get back to someone who wants us to play this at Christmas.
TIA,

This must be a reduction. As I recall, it has 9 brass + perc, and there is a very prominent tuba part; I've played it a number of times. It is not just for quintet, although there is a quintet arrangement.
It is much better with the full group.

That is in line with what I remember from the first and only time I played it. Where it is available and the scoring is what I need to find out ASAP. Thanks, skeath!

I have been in touch with R King and the only thing they show is the quartet version [2 tpt, 2 trb]. They are the exclusive dealers for Pinkham as far as I have learned, so, does anyone have any idea where to find the larger-instrumentation version? I would be grateful for any guidance.

The Rutter Gloria is for larger brass choir... perhaps this is what is creating the confusion?
