Excellent Tuba & Euph Duets

Post by Z-Tuba Dude »

Hey guys & gals,

What are your recommendations for great sounding, not too "out there", tuba/euph duets? I guess any bass clef duets would work, but I am looking for particularly fun/effective stuff.

Thanks!

They are of various difficulty and whole lot of fun!

You can hear #18 here:

There are many more up on YouTube as well. Lots of fun stuff!

From the personal side, I have always liked the SIngleton and Walter Sear. I am not sure the Sear are still available. I had spoken with him about a week before he passed away and he regained the rights to them, but I am not sure what happened after that. I sure hope someone picks them up at some point because they sure are fun!

Hi all,
I sometimes check out what's being recommended musicwise here as I don't have access to ANY music stores where I live and up to now have only found good advise on what and where to find selections. Yesterday, after looking and listening to suggestions, I chose to pick up some duets that seemed to fit my current desires and that were on PDF format from one of the referred to suppliers, Peter Opaskar. I followed the ordering instructions and they didn't work to download. I sent Mr. Opaskar an email to that effect and haven't got a response.
Now granted I only paid $30.00 for his music, his price, but the point here should be, if you sell a product and the customer lets you know he didn't receive it, then do what you need to do to get it to him. Mr Opaskar has chosen to not follow that basic rule of business and I think you ought to know. It cost me $30.00 to not want to do business with him again, I hope you too will not be as unfortunate.

These are getting more known (and performed, most recently at Eastman last spring) in the horn world, and I keep trying to get the tuba world to take a look.

Ah! Peter has come through and regained my respect for people in business. Remember, we who choose to not live where intstant access is assumed, like to not be forgotten.
Have fun,

So here are a few options for you for Tuba euph duets. The ones Bryan mentioned above are great.

Another new option is the Spanish one by jorge Tagliepietra:
http://www.euphonium.com/store/index.ph ... ductId=299
There are PDF and MP3 samples on the site so you can get a feel for the work.

Telemann Canonic Sonatas (a really neat "follow the leader") that is light, accessible, and fun
http://www.euphonium.com/store/index.ph ... ductId=129
the only thing is that the tuba part will be quite high (never above a high g and normally just an F so good for an f tuba)

I hope these add to the mix,
