Hey chums, thought you might enjoy these pictures of various tubas, euphoniums, etc. My dad took them during a visit to a musical instrument museum in Arizona (sorry for the vagueness, that's all I know).
Fire away with any speculations.

Ah. The Emperor's new tubas! Oh, they are splendid indeed! You guys really can't see them?
It is unfortunate that the term "horn dorn" in so often used to describe photographs our our beloved instrument. It shows how far society is sinking when it virtually means nothing to use a term associated with pornography, one taken from the Greek word for prostitute in order to make a "cute" rhyme.
Just something to think about.

Agree.
Would like to see the pictures of the instrument nonetheless.

Agreed, looking at it that way - but most of us do not think of the origin of words. Probably quite a few are used inappropriately today? But remember it is really the context and intent of the writer that matters. It is a fact that 'horn dorn' just sounds more catchy than 'tuba pictures', in much the same way that BAT is more commonly used than 'Grand orchestral tuba'. The modern world is full of catchy nonsense slang.
