old catalogs

Post by opus37 »

Every once and a while someone on this net will reference an old catalog for an instrument brand. Are these old catalogs available and where might they be found?

Are you looking for something in particular? Some of us have some old catalogs.

I have a 1910 Martin Eb and I know little of its lineage. I bought it 30 years ago for $20 at an auction. I've played it off and on for all those years. Now I'm trying to understand more about it. I know the Martin Band Instrument Story. I would like to see how they marketed this horn.

I have a Martin catalogue from this era (actually a bit later than 1910, probably about 1916 or so). If you describe the instrument I can send you a scan of the appropriate page. Martin's marketing was in the same style as the other makers of the day. The brand was marketed by Wurlitzer in the 1920s.

I wish Holton had an online website with the old magazines and history like what Conn and H.N. White have.
