It's listed as a BBb tuba, but it's obviously one of those Alexander compensating double tubas. I would guess that it's F/CC or F/BBb. However, I suppose it could be in EEb/BBb, therefore having an open Bb. That way, it would be more easily misidentified as a BBb tuba.

Re: Alexander double tuba
I know this horn and its owner. That tuba is actually a compensating four valve F tuba. Works just like a euphonium. I question the comment about the valves being fast though cause when I played it last the valves were shot and needed to be rebuilt. Everything else on the horn was redone many years ago but the valves were not. They could have recently been rebuilt but I kinda doubt that. Good horn though. Good low C even with the shot valves and pretty good pitch. Someone could have the valves rebuilt and have a killer F tuba for cheap. I Just want people to know that,
A. not a double FF/CC tuba
B. not a BBb tuba
C. valves will most likely need a rebuild.
PM me any questions you might have.

Re: Alexander double tuba
Is a double tuba... just not a FULL double. There's a bloke here who has one too, and you can hold the 4th down and have a crummy CC. "Just like a compensating Euph" - which are also duplex instruments.
Thanks for the heads-up on the valves - it may come up for resale from the bloke who did get it.
