Warsaw, Poland brass shops

Hi,
During the first week in November I'll be staying/playing in Warsaw, Poland. If anyone has some tips about brass shops, music museums, or any other music related info that shouldn't be missed I would definitely appreciate it.

You could rent a car and scoot over to the Czech Republic to the Cerveny Factory--just a thought. Good luck

Wow! Cerveny is a major tuba source with a long history. Let us know what you find.
Make sure you know here you're going. Cerveny/Amati has at least two manufacturing sites, one at Kraslice and one at a hyphenated town name with the components: Kralovy- Hlavec or something like that (I apologize for my ignorance on the other town). Why not contact Cerveny? . . they're on the 'net.

Poland is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Chopin. He did not write anything for tuba. He probably had no idea what a tuba was, as that instrument was in its infancy at the time of his death. Chopin's birhtplace and boyhood home is in a suburb of Warsaw, Zelazowa Wola. Go there is you can.

Thanks for the tips, gentlemen. Unfortunately, Kraslice is a good 10 hrs drive, if not more. I'd probably arrive just in time to help close up : ) and then there's the 10 hrs drive back to Warsaw.
(Fortunately?), my rehearsal/performance schedule won't allow it.

I agree with the post about visiting the Cerveny factory. It is not located in Kraslice. Rather, it's in Hradec Kralove, about 750 km from Warsaw. Perhaps that would be less than the 10 hr drive you mention. Distance between Hradec Králové and European cities:

-Prague 112 km

-Vienna 270 km

-Bratislava 280 km

-Berlin 450 km

-Budapest 575 km

-Warsaw 750 km

-Brussels 1150 km

Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke have directed a multi-media spectacle called The Big Bang for the opening of a interactive science museum in Warsaw; the Copernicus Science Centre (Centrum Nauki Kopernik). Considering the complications involved with sinking up film, dance, and live music I'll be happy if I get a few hours during the day time to check out the city. But it is seven days, so I should be able to see something around town.

Many major european city have brass shops, music shops, or even antique shops worth looking at. Some have museums with nice brass collections. I was just curious if anyone knew something about Warsaw, Poland relating to our shared interest; the tuba.

(For the record, Warsaw-Hradec Králové is an 8 hrs drive, 16 hrs round trip without traffic or a break. Think 20hrs and then one hasn't even touched a tuba! Its not gonna happen for me.)
