Eb Helicon?

Post by TYA »

I have a chance to buy an Eb helicon, but I was wondering if I could have peoples opinion on using this helicon as my main bass tuba. This would include orchestra, soloing, brass ensemble and tuba ensemble. Are their good and bad things about this and does anyone know of anyone else ever doing this? Thank you in advance

Have you played the horn yet? I would think that the quality of the instrument would answer the question, for you.

What kind of orchestra? No offense, but have you seen a helicon before?

About the same as using a Sousaphone as your main contrabass tuba.

If you feel you can do one...you can do the other.

If not...not.
