Droid phones
So I'm taking the step into the "smartphone" world and just ordered an LG Ally droid. Are any of you Droid users? If so, are there any good free apps that I just have to get

Re: Droid phones
Apps you must have - Advanced task killer = It kills all apps that won't quit.
Lookout = scans all downloaded apps, backs up your apps, can help you find your Droid if you misplace it
Pandora = gives you your own song list
Remote for Itunes = Gives you control of your sound system in your house, you can turn on/off changes songs via your Droid
Droid light = a flashlight in the palm of your hand
App 2 SD = app that lets you move most of apps to your SD card

Get a game called Alchemy: very addictive.
You should also test out the various tuners you can find on the market, really neat for on the fly tuning or when you don't have your ultra high end tuner.

Re: Droid phones
Don't have a droid, not into the whole smartphone thing. However, a guy in accounting recently got the Tricorder app and loves it. It is more than just light and sounds; it does the following:
GRAV: monitor the local gravitational field and acceleration
MAG: monitor the local magnetic field
ACO: acoustic analysis; waveform, frequency and sound level analysis of the ambient sound
GEO: display geographical information (enable GPS for full info)
EMS: scan the electromagnetic spectrum for radio signals -- currently displays cellular and WiFi signals (you have to enable the WiFi to get the latter)
SOL: display current solar activity data -- downloads current solar data in the background (may take a while) and displays it along with current images
The gravitational and magnetic field displays show the corresponding field information as a 3-D plot with X and Y on a cross-axis plot, with the Z value shown beside it. The elevation of the field above or below the X-Y plane is shown on a separate indicator. The absolute magnitude of the field value is plotted below, and the numeric data is shown below that.

Re: Droid phones
Ok, so I opted for NPR over Fox News and went with the built in weather app rather than the weather channel. Found a cool flashlight app and am enjoying the college scores app though that one will probably go after football season is done as that's all I keep up with.
I did download the Kindle app and a couple of the free classic books that Amazon had. Right now I'm reading through "A Christmas Carol." For the little screen on the ally I think I'm really going to enjoy always having a book on hand.
Being a Trekkie I'm debating about downloading the tricorder app, but beyond the cool sounds I can't really see much use but who knows what I'll actually end up doing

Re: Droid phones
get the free tuner and metronome app. They aren't perfect but it's still cool

There's an app for L & M Guitar, that's got a tuner, a metronome, guitar chords, and even guitar lesson videos. I just like the metronome because it's got a "tap" feature. The tuner I use is called gstring I think.
Google Goggles is a cool app, as is barcode scanner and shopper.
