Re: What is this tuba?
I vote for Nirschl York 6/4 which seem to be popular with pros in Japan
The pipe arrangement looks right and I also thought I saw the nice Nirschl engraving as he moves.

Got to vote Meinl Weston product here. 2000? Thor? Either way, stop the track at 1:29, then look right above the black border. You'll see the rotor cap. I've never seen a Nirschl with the rotor placed there. Then again, just look in the photo already posted above. You can see the 4th piston. Trace downward along a line toward the tuning slide...there it is.

Between 2:10 and 2:15 you can see the engraving clearly on the bell, but I'm not familiar with this pattern of engraving.

Re: What is this tuba?
That seems to confirm it definitely Nirschl - see their engraving below. The twirls on the left are clearly visible. So the question then is - either 4/4 , or 6/4? I have got no pictures of the 4/4 to check.iiipopes wrote:Between 2:10 and 2:15 you can see the engraving clearly on the bell, but I'm not familiar with this pattern of engraving.

I was thinking the Yamayork too since this one of the main band In Japan. But since it is a band could his tuba be a BBb over a CC?Chuck Jackson wrote:Indeed.bloke wrote:bloke "Does the same composer compose all modern 'band pieces' under thousands of pseudonyms?"

Here is picture of a Nirschl 6/4 played by Japanese man.bloke wrote:Most Japanese men are not tall, and this tuba does not seem overwhelmingly large next to this Japanese man.
I understand Nirschl do make a BBb, so a possibility? Anyone got picture of the BBb?TYA wrote:But since it is a band could his tuba be a BBb over a CC?

Re: What is this tuba?

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like there's a rotor under the 4th valve? Could be my failing eyesight. If it is, it's not a Nirschl. If it's not, well, I still think it's something other than a Nirschl, and I'm stickin' to it.

I also could be completely wrong and readily admit it up front.
