I'd like to report a crime...

Post by Tubaguyry »

So I was leafing through some old ITEA journals this morning, and noticed a small article with the pictures of three album covers in the Winter 2005 edition on page 18. I thought to myself, "Hmmm. Never heard of him." Just for the heck of it, I decided to do a Google search for this player. I found one of the albums on itunes, and listened to the sample tracks. Now for the part I consider criminal:

I HAD NEVER HEARD OF IAN KING BEFORE!!! How is this possible?!?! His playing is some of the most beautiful that's ever been recorded! Don't take my word for it; listen for yourself!!!:

I'm absolutely speechless as to how this man and these recordings are not in the everyday conversations of all tuba players.

Absolutely incredible playing -- I'll be purchasing all three albums in CD form ASAP.

WOW!!!

Yeah, I'm buying all three of those CDs as funds become available. I'm still just dumbfounded that I'd never heard of him. Am I the only one? Are there any others out there who didn't know who Ian King is? Or was? I have no idea if he's even still alive. I've been Googling furiously, and come up empty.
