Wife and I are working on our 23rd. And I KNOW why she puts up with me... I overheard her saying on the phone, "With all the horse$#!+ he gives me, I know there's a got to be a pony here somewhere!"

I was hired for a jazz gig yesterday that somehow turned into a Christmas Tree lighting. Surprise!

I mean ... WTF?!

They had carolers and everything. The MAYOR showed up.

We pulled off a way cool Frosty and Rudolph, but ... *really* ...

WTF?!!

A late upgrade to my router's firmware allowed some Trojan horse virus into my home network. After upgrading the firmware and downloading personal firewalls for uninfected computers, my laptop required reformatting and reinstallation of Windows XP. Thankfully, the laptop was old and had been relegated to surfing/mild photo editing duties, so nothing was lost that hadn't been backed up. Still, the reinstallation of the OS and all associated drivers along with the upgrade to the router's firmware, download and set-up of personal firewalls took up a great deal of time yesterday. Now, everything is back to "normal," and viruses and Trojan horses have been removed.

Try MalwareBytes; removes the stuff antivirus programs can't.

MalwareBytes was downloaded shortly after the initial trial run at removing the virus. Upon reformatting/reinstallation of Windows XP, it was downloaded to the laptop. Currently, all computers in the house are now protected by MalwareBytes, AVG, and ZoneAlarm (all free).

Viruses suck and this was the first time I've ever had one.

My son played his first band concert last night. His school tuba was a well-used Yamaha YBB-103. (He prefers the rebuilt Conn 12J I bought for him at home, aka The Wolf.)

This weekend begins my annual December vacation - coincident with, as Bloke would put it, the "driving for dollars" season.

Sunday begins 8 straight days, ten performances - most of which are benefit appearances for local middle and high school Christmas concerts - and more right up to Christmas Eve.

So, if I don't "see" you for awhile:

Merry Christmas - May all your wishes come true - Celebrate the Holidays with Joy and Music!

Happy New Year - May 2011 treat you better than 2010 - Stay safe, healthy and happy!

A friend and his wife were down there in the last year or so and got caught in a very windy episode. They were really scared. On the bright side, it cured his constipation problem.

I had to have the transmission in my truck rebuilt, my fault working the truck too hard hauling a trailer, but it is fixed and good as new.

Wake up this morning to my neighbor knocking on the door telling us my wife's car has been hit overnight  With the frigid sub-zero temps the last few days the plastic bumper just shattered. Bumper is shattered, rear fender, shattered, and driver side rear axle/wheel bent into the wheel well. Back to one vehicle again. The one good thing in this deal, when I called the sheriff's office to report the hit and run they called back a little while later and told me they already had the guy who did it in custody  Hopefully the insurance comes through quickly.

I am currently recovering from back muscle spasms. Pain I would not wish on anyone. Thanks to modern pharmacology the pain is dissipating, but the pharma induced mental fog is present. Want to get rid of both - the pain and the mental fog.

I managed to get my combined JH/SH pep band a slot to play during the ND State "Class B" boys basketball tournament the first weekend in March. Our team probably won't make it to state, but band wise this is a good thing as my lead drummer and only sax are both lost to the varsity squad this year.
