I'll be visiting my sister in Phoenix in January and would like to know if there is anything tuba related nearby or possibly withing a reasonable driving distance (12hr max)?

There is a music museum near Phoenix that I'll be touring, but other than possibly driving to Vegas or maybe out to goodgigs' place to see his plastic tubas ... is there anywhere in particular that might be worthwhile? Maybe even food joints or places of particular interest?

A good friend of mine from college (a Euph player) works at the Musical Instrument Museum in Tempe, which I assume is the one you were talking about. I haven't been out there yet, but from some of the pictures he's shown me, you're in for a real treat!

Seriously, don't miss the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum). Just be sure to allow enough time. I had 2 1/2 hours only and could not cover the entire museum without rushing. Very, very cool.

Just be sure to bring the drool buckets.
