I know some people got stuck in it, and that really sucks. But some people are just dummies and complainers.

It is now ten years into the 21st Century. I have neither a flying jet car, a personal robot butler nor a vacation home on Mars. To top that off, wars have still not been abolished. Thanks for nothin', Arthur C. Clarke.

I don't want to be one to hang on into my 90s, getting every conceivable medical test done, taking gobs of prescription medicine, etc. and have Medicare (the taxpayers) pay for it.

My wife's grandmother is one of those lucky folks who leads a rich, full life, still drives, volunteers 3 or 4 days a week, AND is in her mid 80's (at least, I can't bear to ask that woman's age!). She's a riot, and the life of the party. I sure hope I'm that lucky!

With all due respect to Bloke - fruitcake is indeed tasty, nutritious and good for you. That's OK Bloke, the less fruitcake you eat, the more there is for me. I love fruitcake and I am not fruity or a fruit for it.

Re: Update Update
At 100+, I'll bet you will use/have used up far more resources than you could have ever paid in taxes.I want to live to 100+ and I have paid a butt load of taxes. I want to use all the SS I paid for, all the Medicare I paid for, all the everything that I paid for...
That's an admirable life goal to have, but don't worry... we'll driving test your old a** off the road so you won't be able to.I want to tie up traffic driving my wife to the early bird specials for dinner for years...
And when I die, I'm leaving instructions to do a couple of extra laps around what ever city I lived in at the time just to tie up traffic.

Re: Update Update
I have recently discovered a new way to exploit my 100% work-at-home situation -- dog walking. I've watched over people's dogs over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and have another to walk during the day the whole month of January. We're talking maybe 15 minutes per walk, a chance for me to get off my butt a few times during the afternoon, and some easy *easy* money.
The only drawback (which really isn't bad...) is that the profit turns right around to buy food/supplies for my own dog. Plus, to pay people to watch her when *we* go out of town. At the worst, I'm breaking even though, and should pretty easily end up in the black, and that ain't bad!

Update:
There is a nasty stomach bug running around at the school that has knocked out a number of the staff already on the 2nd day back from the winter vacation. Tonight, while rocking the baby, my stomach started doing flip flops so I'm really hoping that I don't have an UP date

We in the South had better get ready. Seriously, this ice causes trees to fall on power lines and without electricity it gets cold real fast. Joe, you've got a lot longer driveway to shovel than anybody I know!

We're getting snow here in central Kentucky. I'll take that over ice anyday.
