It came north...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Hey Joe,
Just curious, for you being down there in the Memphis, TN area, would you be so kind to explain what is really "Heavy Accumulations" of snow. It's only January, so we really haven't seen our heavy accumulations yet. But, apparently the engineers for the Metrodome in Minneapolis didn't understand the concept very well either. :D

Cheap bastard alert: :D

For anyone needing a new backpack: Yesterday, I picked up a SwissGear laptop backpack on clearance from Office Max for $12.50  . Go to your local Office Max and look for the clearance section. Similar deals (but not quite this good) can be found on the website as well under clearance.

Aren't you just glad you live in the South, where it's nice and warm all the time? lol

That's easy until the elcricity goes off, then we freeze. These houses aren't built to hold heat and there is no alternative heating system in most that works without an electric fan. I remember when I was a kid scraping a half inch of ice off the inside of the windows.

Yep--I lived as a kid in Orlando;I was never so hot in the summer or so blamed cold in the winter as I was in that hellhole! Almost made me miss Jersey's humidity. This was way before A/C was the norm. Before Disney, too. :(

Just got in from shoveling the driveway, a bit over 6" followed by freezing rain. I'm sure glad I don't have Doc's driveway, or bloke's. Took me about an hour to do my 35'X 20'. I can't imagine a quarter of a mile.

You know, I like college football. A lot.

But it's January 10th. Time to play the last game and be done with it already!

Started a new exercise plan tonight with the wife. I'm lazy, fat, and grossly out of shape.

Made it from Chicago Midway to Los Angeles International with tuba intact. Southwest is 2-0 in tuba trips, whereas American is at 1-1.

Yeah. Can't go anywhere, but there's really nowhere to go. Everything's closed and/or cancelled. My neighbor went to work yesterday morning at 6 AM while the roads were still covered with snow. Took him 7 hours to get home last night after it melted and refroze. 16 miles/7 hours=2.28 mph. Says he's working from home today.

Got to work five minutes early yesterday, despite most roads being untouched. Stayed an hour and a half late (typical). Got chewed out by HR because of the footwear I wore.

That's because HR mission has NOTHING to do with either humans or resources. What their task IS is make you feel deep down that you weren't perfect so maybe you DID actually rate the ridiculously low appraisal and raise they randomly assigned you as part of their own performance objectives.
