An almost tie with the Miraphone 1281 slightly ahead of a Cerveny 653/5 and some old horns none of you guys care about.

Beginning again to be a tuba player.
1291 King Double B flat with detachable bell.
"The hills are alive, with the sound of (tuba) music."

I can't really say there was one that was the best. I've plalyed several that were really quite nice though. This question is tooo difficult, I give up.
Happiness is a warm tuba.

Re: Just for grins....
Ok, my real answer now... top 2 (so far) were:
-- Handmade Nirschl 4/4 CC. One of the few tubas I've tried that seemed worthy of a price soooo high.
-- A gold brass Miraphone 188 I borrowed in Austria for a few weeks. Amazing tuba, but not for sale.
Many years later, finally have realized I should be chasing down another great 188. All is well...
