Made in 'anywhere' doesn't mean much, anymore. It's come to pass that 'made in' can be construed to mean 'assembled in' or 'put into different cartons in'. It's RUMORED that even the stalwart German manufacturing system recognizes that 'Made in Germany' means only that a minimum of 40% of the final assembly actually takes place in Germany. Lord only knows where the parts come from. There might only be two 'parts'.... a complete valve section and a bugle.

Here in the U. S. an automotive final assembly might mean bolting together just a few major sub-assemblies and slathering on the final coat of paint.

There is a well known company in the states, who I used to work for, that started setting up China production about 9 years ago. Everything was and still is, hush hush. They also had some of their products made in Europe. The final assembly is still U.S., and people think they are buying American goods, but most times, they are not, again except the high end stuff. The high end stuff is still made here-mostly by immigrants.

And I remember the day a dealer sent me a picture of 3 different examples of the same product, and asked where was this stuff being made? We had to explain it away as design changes, because our European affiliate had mistakely not put the US components in place-and it was obviously not our old product.

My Xeno trumpets are surely made in Japan, as are all of their custom horns as far as I know. All of my Yamaha horns (I have a few student instruments too) have MADE IN JAPAN stamped into them.

Not too far back, all of the student horns were made there too, but who knows these days?

A video from a while back shoes the Yamaha factory in action. Not in China.
