A couple weeks ago one of my friends gave me a copy of the
Premier Method for Eb Alto published by J.W. Pepper around 1895 ( I can't remember how to read Roman numerals, but it's MDCCCXCVII which may translate to 1897.) Now I'd like to find a copy of the Eb Bass book just to see the solos in it.

There is a freeware iPhone app for Roman Numeral conversion! (and there are several web based converters.)
