That kind of reminds me of the last time I needed to fix the plumbing under my sink :)

Speaking of under the sink, it would be so much easier to play if the neck of the helicon was substituted with some of that flexitubing that connects the taps to the feeds. Probably would hurt the sound but would be so much easier to put the instrument on...

This is exactly the reason why I build custom necks for my sousaphones! My neck is just too darned short these days. :)

argh...trouble with the upload. I only have a couple of pix till i get the horn in April.
Happyharveyshornytoadhorns is the vendor. Harv tells me the puppy toots A at 440.
Its a good looking vintage horn. Harv has a picture of a band from 1875 with that heli in it. Maker is Henry Distin in PA. Here i go try again.

OK, thanks Schlepp. Well, when i pick it up in April, i will see how the shoe fits.
Maybe Harv Hartman will fire up his torch and cobble me up sumtin, if need be.
OR, i will ask Dan Schultz when i get over his way in November, God willin,
after i had a chance to play it all summer and grow some new muscles? :D

Thanks for your help. In what setting do you play your heli?
Tuba Christmas, caroling, german band, mountain tops, pep rallies,
family re-unions...

Hey, i know a man in Gravenhurst, Ontario who rides his horse into town and all over town, dressed in a confederate outfit. Long coat, boots, hat...looks genuine.
Maybe i will hang the heli around his neck and snap his picture? Get him to pose in the town square in front of the statue of Dr. Norman Bethune (he was born there) Chinese folk come by the busload to visit his home.

Ghee, owning a heli is fun so far. Wait till i get it.

In Canuckistan? We may not have single-payer health plans down here but we do have rubber rooms for guys like this....

Hey Schlepporello: I love that pic of Richard. There may be hope for me.
I had a nice low brass chat on the phone with Harv Hartman yesterday. I remember when you were waiting for your helicon..Harv tells me he built it for you.

I am not worried about 'fit'. Harv can cobble up something if need be. I'll make sure i am sober when i slip it
on the first time. Oh yeah. :D I am heading North for a rest after 6 months in Naples, FL and playing in 3 bands.
First stop is Tubatinker for some work on my Mirafone vintage euph. Then its Harv to pick up the old old silver
heli. Next is meet up with a friend who started a band in Potsdam, NY and play a heli duet with him and my new old heli in his band.

Does it get any better than that?

Ah thank you for your heli-action details. Excellent.
Now, Schlepporello, a man who plays heli in church every Sunday
surely can't go wrong. I love the 'praise band' label.

Thanks also for the July 4th reference. I will work on something with my little
band up North. July 1 is our day in Canada. We had a nice sunset flag ceremony here in Naples
the other day. When we were done palying, the organizer said: "Thank you. Please come in
to the retaurant behind you. We have drinks and snacks for all." Well, the band wasted no time.
Trombones beat tubas into the door....BUT  all the spectators came in as well. haha. it was a hoot
but..tight for space.

cheers,
Armin

Ah..Dan, i will never challenge you. My mother told me "Never pick a fight with a man with no neck" Plus, i KNOW you are strong from hoisting those monster sousies
around and throwing out unruly customers. Right?
haha... :P
