Here's a cool video showing what's in the works with the new Indian line of sousaphones.

I was dubious at first, I thought it was some kind of scam, but the rather virtuosic playing by the factory tech put all my fears to rest. Also the thorough explanation about the valve configuration was terribly satisfying.

Re: India Rising!
Damn! I want one! Maybe I can trade the unplayable Tri-Star (India) euphonium that hangs in my shop for one.

Thank you very much for posting that, but ... that poor technician! I would just like to point out that while he never said a word, he was clearly roped into this, and had no illusions that he had any business playing a sousaphone. Sousaphones are not unknown in India, they have their own sort of popular brass band music and it doesn't involve the sort of ceremonial sound this guy was getting.

The 'technician' is probably the owner of the company! ... and the other guy is the marketing manager.Donn wrote:Thank you very much for posting that, but ... that poor technician! It's been reported that the Marine Band in D.C. has already crushed it's 20k's and is eagerly waiting shipment of the new Global India line. The rest of the D.C. area bands are likely to follow suit.
