They keep talking about doing that with soft drinks in NYS because the state is broke--the latest idea was an attempt to have bicycles have license plates costing $25 each year!!! That one died yesterday over total uproar. I heard that NJ is attempting to allow online casino gambling and tax it at 23% to raise money!!! No tuba tax yet....

That always gets me. Buy a case of soda and whoop!, there gets another $1.20 added to the total. Now, I know I could take them back to collect my deposit refund, but with a tiny apartment, collecting trash until I can take it somewhere is unappealing. In fact, the only people I see turning them in are the homeless, with shopping carts full of them. At least it's good for recycling, I guess...
