Record players

Post by arpthark »

Hey guys,

I've amassed a bit of a (small) collection of LPs within the past few months -- raided local flea markets / peddlers malls and got some promising-looking records: Philadelphia/Ormandy, CSO/Reiner, Royal Philharmonic/Kempe, Oslo/Blomstedt, Leopold Stokowski and his Orchestra, and the like, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. A whole lot of them look like they've hardly been played, but I had to pass up one of NBC Symphony/Toscanini because the record was scratched like crazy. Also found a recording of Tubby the Tuba, narrated by "Annette," that I might just end up framing.

Anyway, the problem is, I don't have a record player. Anyone have any luck with any newer models? I'm looking for something portable and small with built-in speakers, and maybe a headphone jack and the ability hook it up to bigger speakers. Looked at Amazon... Jensen and Crosley seem to be fairly popular.

I bought a USB turntable off Ebay last year for $79. You can digitize your favorite stuff while listening to it!
