A Volvo 240 sedan will hold even huge-belled tubas in the trunk, though I find it easier to slide my older detachable bell King in the back seat. (Why don't rear doors open all the way on modern cars? Grrrr. Give me the old Volvos any day!)

Another successful Tuba Lugger was the 1960 Mercury Colony Park Station Wagon------------must have imitation wood on sides and chrome luggage rack on top for several more 2xj's.

I would suggest a Pontiac G8 gt/gxp (I have the gt) but you can only fit an 18.5" bell or smaller without removing the floor panel of the trunk. easy to do but it might bother you. They are good on gas mileage for a V8 (think 23-27 with reasonable driving habits on the highway) and they are seriously quick. Plus they have an engine and body parts in common with other gm cars so you won't have to worry about the Pontiac-not-existing-anymore thing. Good luck with your choice.

I have a 2001 Ford Focus and can fit my PT-1(19" bell) in the trunk with out much problem, as long as it's in its gig bag. If its in the case, no chance, not even in the back seat. My 1993 LeBaron there is noo chance either way, although the back seat is big enough for the case(barely) 8)

Although it has to be one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen, the Ford Flex should do the trick nicely.

I play a CB50 and she fits into the trunk of my '94 camry easily. I can even fit another one (York monster, same body). I've fit everything up to the Kaiser (19.7" bell). Unfortunately, my Martin doesn't fit (24" or something)
