Quintet Concerto with Eastman Wind Enemble and Emerald Brass

Post by T. J. Ricer »

Hey Guys,

If anyone is in upstate New York, come check out the New York premiere (and I think 3rd performance) of Dodecafecta by James Stephenson next Wednesday, April 13 at 8 PM in the Eastman Theater. It's free and open to the public. The Wind Ensemble will also be playing Maslanka's 2nd Symphony on the program. Don't worry, Dodecafecta is not a twelve tone work, but is referring to the original consortium of 12 brass quintets that commissioned the piece!

Here are links to the parties involved:

The Emerald Brass: http://www.emeraldbrass.com/
The Eastman Wind Ensemble: http://esm.rochester.edu/ewe/

*A little bit of TubeNet interest: I'll be performing on an Eb tuba built by our own Tuba Tinker and the Bloke's "Sellmansberger Solo" mouthpiece. http://www.thevillagetinker.com/yamaha_ ... ersion.htm

Come on out and see the newly renovated "Kodak Hall at Eastman Theater"

Hey Joe,

In a nutshell, they were trying to make things sound more "dry" on stage and more "wet" out in the audience in the theater, itself. They also reduced the number of seats to improve everyone's sight line. . . It is a HUGE theater and losing a few seats will rarely affect ticket sales/audience size (I think Jerry Seinfeld was the last person to sell the place out). What used to be known as simply "Eastman Theater" is now "Kodak Hall" as they have added a wing and refer to this entire space as Eastman Theater. Clear as mud?

Hi Steve,
Since unofficial recording in the the Eastman Theater is forbidden and they don't do video, I'm not sure what will be available. . . If something like this shows up, I'll let you know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYz54hKIBb8" target="_blank (Mvt. 1 premiere)

thanks for the interest,
