Okay, be forwarned it may be politically incorrect but if you watch all the way through you won't be offended unless you are a conductor or a string player.

This isn't really on point, but for the "'Toons" connection; then again maybe it is. Many of my generation had some of their initial introductions to classical music through the Warner Brothers cartoons, especially with Elmer Fudd singing Wagner, such as "Kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit, kill da wahahahahahha-bit," and, "...with my sword and magic helmet," and to say nothing of Bugs doing the Toscaninni parody to the poor tenor who pops his collar studs, among others. Great stuff.

Thanks for taking an interest in Who's Minding The Score? I can say that Steve is on the mark in that the entire series is crafted from the standpoint that parity can be a very useful tool and all good parity must embody the essence of what it's poking fun at through a mixture of reality and exaggeration. Ultimately, Dixon and I hope that providing a bit of transparency through the filter of parody will help clarify important issues in an otherwise murky field.

I just got this week's via e-mail sub.

Cartoonists often reach an audience which would otherwise be totally unaware of problems around them and provoke thought and action.

I can't wait until next week's the hook "Next week: is that a conflict of interest I smell in the wind?…" has me biting already.

Well, REALLY, what can one say?

We play our tubas as our extensions of our selves as a means of self expression, self fulfillment, and communication, and reaching out to others. In so doing we gain a degree of happiness which we hope to share with others and, if others gain some happiness as a result of our efforts there is a commensurate gain for many.

What is happening with "the arts" in the US, as well as much more of the world is regrettable, to say the least!

I guess it still comes down to something like; do your best to be kind and honest and get your joy from giving joy to others. Sooner or later it will all come to a crashing end.

Simple, honest things are likely to be all the "good" one can hope for. Don't worry about being "the best", just be the best you can be for others.
