Anyone played one? The 6v F tuba got rave reviews for the money, just wondering if anyone has touched this one.

I am sitting in a Cathedral choir loft at present using the 6v JinBao F for a quintet Easter Vigil gig-the F is amazing. The 5v Rotary CC is also a great horn. At this time, I would recommend if you are looking for an Asian CC tuba, go with the 5v CC rotary horn-you will be very happy with it. Good luck! Back to work...

Spent a few minutes on one at the Army conference. Seemed a little cobbled together, fit and finish weren't up to par with the rotary CC. Fifth valve assembly in particular seemed un poco flimsy. I can't really comment on the sound, because at this point the elephant room was being particularly elephantine.

For the money, if I were torn between the piston and rotor Jin Bao CC's, I would go with the rotor version. Great horn.

The Dillon rotary MiraClone I tried was nice, and if you are on a strict budget and *need* a new tuba, it would be a good option. Personally, I would still hold out for the real deal and get a used Miraphone 1291, 188, etc.

Another thought... With the clone market being so saturated now with Baltimore Brass, Dillons, Schiller, M&M, Mack Brass, Mark Jones' source... it almost seems like you are choosing who to buy from now, over what to buy...like a real brand. (that is, if I want a new 186, I could go to 10 places to get one...).

Anyway... Hope you end up with something you like a lot!

Thanks for the info...it's more curiosity than a shopping inquiry- I haven't seen the piston horns on the market that long. I've always been partial to piston CC, and I didn't know what the consensus was yet. Sounds like the rotary is a pretty good horn though.
