However, it is getting to be re-election time.
Yep. 550+ days out from the general election, and the incumbent's already doing 3 fundraisers a day, talking trash about (to date, nonexistent) opponents, and campaigning like his life depends on it. I surely wouldn't put it past this particular 'candidate'.
I'm no expert on national security or terrorism, but a burial at sea makes much more sense to me than any other option. Imagine the difficulties of deciding how and where to dispose of the body after it was brought to the USA?
Or if it was left in the Middle East? Any site would become a rallying point for extremists.

Agreed. I also find the idea that any body celebrating the death of ANY human being (no matter how horrible) to be completely grotesque.
Last night on CNN they were interviewing some people gathered at the capitol. Some woman in her late 20's to early 30's was asked, " How do you feel?" She replied, "He's dead, we killed him! WHOOOOOOO!" This to me is just plain strange.
Besides, Dan is right, somebody else will just rise to his place and the cycle will continue. So so sad.
How many of your friends were in the towers? How many of your family were on the planes? How many of your co-workers were at the Pentagon? Come to Arlington National Cemetery: there are many other things you need to see.

Awesome. It's nice to know that one's patriotism and national pride is measured by the number of family/friends that have died in a national tragedy.
My brother is a marine and my brother in law is a helicopter mechanic in the Army. I am very proud of them, and support their endeavors. My grand father is a Korean war veteran and is buried in the national cemetery in Leavenworth. I have been many times. I have walked amongst the white marble stones and given great thought to those who have lost their lives giving service to their country.

Please name me any sitting president in history who started actively campaigning (fundraising for himself, 3 times a day) a year and a half before the general. This is truly unprecedented.

It's a good idea to kill him, don't mistake me, but this decade long project to kill a sick old man doesn't really solve our problems, nor is it much of a triumph.
Agreed completely.
I think it is an AMAZING job our armed forces have done. We managed to go in, take out Bin Laden and not occupy the country or start another war. THAT is worth celebrating. What isn't worth celebrating is the death of some piece of garbage like Bin Laden.
Just to be clear.
@Uncle Beer - I stand corrected. Thank you for posting those links.

I am a veteran and a patriot. I'm glad the guy is gone. Having served in Naval Intelligence... I just can't understand why it took ten years to take him out. A large celebration might have been well in order had his capture or murder had taken place a few weeks after 9/11. But.... ten years later?

You KNOW there is a reason, and you KNOW that they put some research into these decisions...if nothing else, to make an old story appear "new" or "fresh"...??
Recently, they've changed they way they like to spell both this name and the Libyan's name.
People are saying/writing "Osama" and "Obama" too much side-by-side now, and it's confusing. Changing to another approximation of the translation just helps clarify things. That's all. Shoot, Limbaugh and Glen Beck both stumbled on it a dozen times yesterday, so it's easy to fumble.
Beyond that, information is great and all, but I think a lot of people have been watching too many episodes of "24" for their own good.
Guess we'll find out tonight (well, I'll find out tomorrow -- I don't get NBC since analog TV went head-first into the septic tank) if SNL revives one of their oldest running gags:

Quite a few suspect that he has been dead for several years (no pictures/no body/stooge Senators/etc.), but are not speaking out because of growing wearing of being labelled "kooks" when stating something that appears to be obvious.
Oh, come on, America's kooks have far more stamina than you give them credit for.
I think that the fact that Bin Laden is dead is true, but we'll never find out when he really died. Was it 1st of May or earlier? It's politics and it is full of "top secret" fact. The most important question is what next? The war won't be over anyway...
