Weelll...I went to an In N Out when we got one, and really truly I felt like yelling WHERE'S THE BEEF? Highly unimpressed. The fries were ok but most fries are.

I personally don't think you're missing much! We have one here and the only thing I'll buy there is the chicken sandwich.

Their main meat processing plant is about an hour and a half from here. One of the 'meanest' automation jobs I had was to design machinery to handle those slippery little burger patties and stack them into shipping cartons with waxed paper between the layers. Yup... spent lots of time in that factory watching those little buggers flop around on the conveyors! That was a past life. I like working on music instruments a whole lot better.

I lived in Indiana for several years. I stopped in for coffee a few times and watched the grill operations while waiting. I remember that the White Castle meatish product was supplied in perforated slabs, sized for about six sliders, which were grilled with onions and then assembled onto top and bottom sets of perforated buns.

In answer to other posts, there's no comparing White Gristle to Five Guys, a really super burger and fries place--with free peanuts at most locations.

I never touch the stuff. Have you read a ketchup label lately? When was the last time you saw "Grade A" ketchup? Guess why the USDA does not permit most ketchup to be labeled "Grade A."

Best thing I've ever heard? So true...I had it once and its deliciousness still haunts my dreams. There's an in and out about 2 miles away from me, but it's just so boring compared to the warm, steamy, onioney, cheesey hockey puck of perfection
