Re: Tuba for Gregson Concerto?
It was written for playing on compensated EEb but will work on other size tubas. Use what you feel most comfortable

Re: Tuba for Gregson Concerto?
Heh. When I was in high school, no one told me you couldn't play the VW on a BBb. So I did (just the first movement), for the solo and ensemble competition. I had a vague awareness that there were other keys of tuba, just as there were languages other than English. Had nothing to do with me, at 17 or 18. No doubt the upper notes were dying of asphyxiation, but the judges were kind. (And I learned some other languages, but never did learn to play a tuba in any other key.)BVD Press wrote:Or what you have...

I use a BBb. It also works on euphonium and bass trombone.

The Gregson and the Hindemith are two pieces that are written for a bass but I think are more appropriately suited on CC.
