My valves were getting sluggish even after oiling so I thought it might be time to run a snake through the leadpipe and the top tuning slides. Here are a couple of samples of what I found in the leadpipe. Perhaps I should clean more often.

The horn is a little over a year old. That was also some demo slime as I bought it off the floor at Baltimore Brass.

Just as some things are better left unsaid, some things are better left unseen. If that exists in my tuba, I hope to just get it out without having to look at it. Ugh!

As a teacher those photos are going to school....and when kid asks me why they should not be eating candy in band, or should brush their teether before playing...I am going to make them look at that !... Nice!!!!!

That is the nastiest thing I've seen in a long long time.

It looks like some deep ocean floor fungus that never sees the light of day. You just destroyed a fragile ecosystem by removing it.

I just hope that the picture of young Sampson (with his lips on the leadpipe) was taken after the tuba was de-slimed.

Better than having your tuba instructor or, as the case may be, your commanding officer discover your "deposits."
