The best tuba is either the Berkeley or Vento tuba. I don't know which for sure because I've never played either one but did hear some guys in school say it and one of them wrote it online somewhere.

.... When I want to listen to shortwave or AM DX with tube gear, though, I use a Hammarlund HQ-100, HQ-140XA, or a National NC-98.

I spend four years in the Navy glued to a couple of Hammarlund SP-600 military receivers. Twenty tubes. Guaranteed to keep your hut warm!

Any tuba that comes with and requires you to wear white gloves to protect your hands from the finish. They are the best.
