Re: Hiring a conductor
I've been involved in the search for a grand total of one as a board member. He met the band once, the board met immediately afterwards. No conductor makes everyone happy, but it's worked out great for us. (The people' he didn't please weren't pleasing any of the rest of us, so it's all worked out better than one could hope!)

Re: Hiring a conductor
I checked "yes," however it would certainly depend on the guidelines that are in place. If a candidate is a available that everyone already knows and favors, and if the guidelines permit, it might not be necessary.
