Maybe. What does the second bell do? F tuba? Euphonium? Cimbasso?

Why mess up a perfectly good tuba?

Yes, for the sheer coolness of that thing. Talk about a conversation piece. I bet it sounds wonderful.

If I were Tommy Johnson or had his ability and reputation I would both buy it and play it in public. He could afford it. Being me, no way. I would be absurd with it.

Lately, things that have the potential to add more weight to a tuba don't really interest me.

No, for the same reason I never really cared for double-bell euphonium.

Re: Poll: Who wants one of these?

It looks like the 6th valve is after the normal 4th valve, but before the main tuning slide.
The 6th valve "changes bells", but the valves are still in CC length, so there needs to be 13ish feet of mostly cylindrical tubing curled up behind the tuba but connected to the smaller bell. There also should be another tuning slide back there. This is assuming CC = 16 feet and that the leadpipe and valves make for about 36 inches of that. So, I bet that thing is actually pretty neat, but heavy. I like Mirafone 184 CCs. I'd like to have another some day.
I'd really like to see the back of the tuba pictured above.

Re: Poll: Who wants one of these?
He got it from Roger Bobo. The remains are at Robb's shop (or at least they were a few years ago when I visited there). Bobo said it was, sound-wise, tuba/contrabass trombone. Probably not much sound difference between contrabass trombone and cimbasso.

Hi,
Is it not a BBb? Look at the bend down near the main slide.

It looks like that was done to make room for the 6th (change) rotor, which is below (after) the 4th.kathott wrote:Hi,

Re: Poll: Who wants one of these?
Older CC 184 tubas have the bend in question and evidently played a bit flat. Later ones had more of a right angle and played a bit sharp.kathott wrote:Hi,
