My money is on some variation of a 5XJ. Keep your ear to the ground on word from Andy (ASTuba). He's the answer man on this one. Nice guy too.

An improved 2nd generation of the Harvey Phillips CC, with a .689 bore instead, would be an interesting idea to float.ASTuba wrote:Hi again everyone,
Chuck is holding a 2341 in that picture. We are just right now working on getting some promotional material for us to use. Chuck, myself, an Engineer from Eastlake, and a a few marketing folks are meeting to talk tuba project tomorrow. To be honest, we have no clue what this will turn into, as we're still in the development stage. I will let you know more as soon as we figure it out.
It is an honor to be involved in this process!

Re: Canadian Brass now with Conn/Selmer
The 52j (and its other variants) was an extremely "good" tuba. The 52j was my favorite variant. I can't say I thought the same thing about the small Holton CC tuba.
The 56j is actually pretty similar to a CB50/G50. Assuming Mr Daellenbach still has it, the same carbon bell from his old CB50 might even fit.
I would really like to see whatever results branded as a King rather than a Conn.

For Chuck's purposes I wonder about the 3J. I think the first album was on a 2J and although some think 656 is too small a bore I've seen him play one of the York top bangers that are that bore.Which had been cut to C.The Harvey Holtons, like them or not, were also 656 bore. Also, I have never played a bad 3J. It's a great design and could take the movement aspect of the job very well. Just some musings. Ed

How about a reproduction of this;
1918 Conn 48J CC "Donatelli"
One of the most in tune and responsive tubas I've ever played.
And lightweight, too!
Mr. Dallenbach is welcome to check it out anytime!

Re: Canadian Brass now with Conn/Selmer
That does appear to be a CC from the first valve wrap etc... looks like a 52 with a modified 4th valve wrap (maybe they trashed the "bigger bore" on the 4th).guillaumedu wrote:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... =1&theater" target="_blank

Has there been any indication as to why they switched?

IMHO, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
mark
PS The old/original Canadian Brass once did a Harvey's Hamburger commercial (the 'McDonald's of Canada')--saying how good they were and how tasty, etc.--however, at the time, the entire group were vegetarians.....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yes, after all, they would perfer one to their li-King, so as not to be considered Conn artists. So until it is released to the general public, I'll just be Martin time. They might bach at that.
Yeah, but they might selmer tubas that way.
I'm not holton my breath on that one.

If it is transparency you desire, I know one prominent place NOT to look(although transparency was promised).goodgigs wrote:If I could get that guy top play my tuba with a Kellyburg, It'd be on America's got talent for sure !
