Playing with a retainer?

For those of us that had braces and received a clear plastic retainer for the top half of their teeth, does anyone play WITH it? I tried it and my articulations were not nearly as clear but i may be missing something.

Can't you take it out when you play? If not, just like braces, get used to it.

yup, it comes out. I was wondering if anyone played with it in and got positive results (better tone, more range, etc)
