As far as I know, they have not announced it yet officially. Mostlikely, the position is going to be One-Year Intrim Assistant Professor or Lecturer.

By the way, the position became open; because, I took the orchestra director position at The University of Vermont. TAMUK is a wonderful university with great students and facutly. They offered me tenure and promotion for the next coming year, but I did not take it. I was NOT let go from the position as some people are wondering. This past year, there were 26 students in the tuba euphonium studio, and teaching load was shared by an adjunct professor, Ms. Ouida Zaporta who is a great euphonium player. I would have loved to stay there, if I had 48 hours a day to do both teaching tuba euphonium and directing the orchestra, while spending more time with my family.

As for the adjunct position that was announced earlier, it is something that they have to do every year, and is not to replace my position. The full-time position will be announced soon, I hope.

So, if you have any question, please do not hesitate to ask privately. I am really hoping that they will find the one who is highly qualified for the position for the students. They are very talented, highly motivated, and very hard working students, and I have no doubt that the new professor will be very happy to teach them.

Congratulations on the new gig Yutaka. Will you do the tuba/euph studio as well? You will be missed in Texas. Burlington is a very nice college town. Be sure though and get a really good coat, hat and gloves. You'll need it.
All the best,
Bob

Congratulations to Dr. Benavidez! Have fun in Kingsville. I certainly did.

Bob, I will be teaching tuba euphonium very selectively at the University of Vermont. The department is smaller than TAMUK, and will not be supporting a large tuba/euphonium studio anytime soon. I sure will miss directing the huge tuba euphonium ensemble at TAMUK!

Be sure to look up Dan Weiss (http://www.med.uvm.edu/vermontlung/TB8+ ... AreaID=580), a fine bass player and ask him about the Mahler Festival.
